honeybee, could you live without me?
oh as your flower, i know all of the hours
that go into making a house a home
oh honeybee, would you give your ears to me?
they're your greatest gift and i would if i missed
them be oh so eternally melancholy
sunburned arms, peeling skin
after five years of the summer, it's wearing thin
give me goosebumps, show me art
i'll be ready when the autumn starts
honeybee, lay here on the grass with me
how much soil would you eat in order to keep
feeling cool, feeling rad, feeling close to me?
honeybee, honeybee, swarm to me like lavendar
honeybee, honeybee, put me on your calendar

i wonder if i'll listen to the radio
when i'm older and less cynical
one of my favourite people's dad once prophesised that i'd
be thanking him in about five years time, saying
"old man you changed my life," i'm not sure how but you did me right
yeah we jumped off that cliff and it scared us shitless
looking at yearbooks on the lawn, playing records in the kitchen
we wrote a song together when we were twelve
and now u love my favourite band better than i ever will
breaking into events we paid for tickets for
i still have the whole thing pinned to my corkboard
oh kid u changed my life, neither u or i have finished this ride
all this time u gave me on pages in a book
the adventures that will save me from the chances i never took

walking the beach up and down
looking for shells
in the sand
and the sea is nibbling my feet
and i chickened out
the glass broke when it fell
three halves
so much sharper than one had ever been
the prettiest skies
a heartbreaker's surprise
when they thought they'd
seen it all
lyring on my back in the car
staring up at the trees
as we drove
being blinded from between the leaves
thinking of ur hand in mine
pretending to be asleep
skyscrapers to mountains
oh my teasing dreams
the prettiest skies
a heartbreaker's surprise
when they thought they'd
seen it all

my wonderful, wonderful
my wonderful one
i pretty much melted the first time i heard her sing
and every time after that
i know u in words and i know u in writing
the art that u love and the way u delight in
the **** and the trees on the way
i know u will meet me someday
[recorded the last vox section in one take and w/o lyrics, im genuinely not sure what im saying in the * bit]

with so many pieces from so many places
every creature i stitch together and leave out in the rain
or likeness i steal and embed on secret pages
or bottlecap i will nail to a broom
there is a story and a small piece of me
to love more than u thought u could
(there is a story/ there is a story/ there is a/ piece of me to love more than u thought u could/ of me/ of me/ of me/ me/ me/ on secret/ creature/ and leave out in the rain/ there is a story/ there is a story/ there is a/ piece of me to love more than u thought u could)

i took an artist and gave u a name
and my life became art in its truth and recollections
with phrases i carved from ur letters
a knife shaped like a fountain pen
held at the edges so i wouldnt contaminate them
in collaboration with a two stringed banjo
tuned by ear to a key that doesn't exist
i took an artist and gave u a name
covered half in fingerprints and half in dust
like anything half-forgotten and half-loved
we collected all the parts of a monster in the middle of a storm
but there was no lightning
and the song i played was just the sound of
dust and fingerprints washed away
i took an artist and gave u a name
(washed away)
