When I get bored of a song, I stitch on a section to the end that maybe doesn't entirely belong, but embodies everything I didn't quite get to say in the rest of the song. And I think in this song, the purpose of the end is to rip off the veneer of pleasantries that is created in the verses and chorus.
To the Potts', Jane, and especially Sarah: thank you for looking after my mum
lyrics
21 Belmont street of late has been where demons congregate
It’s really not a nice place but you can take the kids, it’s fun for the whole family
Fight your way along fairytale drive, and if you make it through you’ll arrive
At the infamous castle to the sight of seven sins, shameless, bare and clammily
Come and visit, this is what is waiting for you!
Come and visit, this is what is waiting for you!
Come and visit, this is what is waiting for you!
Come and visit 21 Belmont Street.
If the front door doesn’t yield when you ask, try the porthole of crystal glass
And if you can stand to admire the view, please take a piece home with you
Come and visit, this is what is waiting for you!
Come and visit, this is what is waiting for you!
Come and visit, this is what is waiting for you!
Come and visit 21 Belmont Street.
Would you believe if you knew would you despise the lies?
This empire is a disguise for a house too weak to stop the seeping through the walls and through the ceiling - alcohol’s saturated so let’s set it alight!
[Come and visit, this is what is waiting for you!
Come and visit, this is what is waiting for you!
Come and visit, this is what is waiting for you!
Come and visit 21 Belmont Street.]
